Blake Davis has emerged as one of the most exciting young actors in Australia today. His work on the highly acclaimed adaptation of Christos Tsiolkas’ novel ‘The Slap’ for the ABC has accorded him a great deal of praise and a nomination for the ‘Out of the Box’ award at the 2011 Inside Film Awards, as well as a nomination for Most Outstanding Actor in a Drama at the Festival de Television de Monte Carlo.
Blake’s breakthrough role came in 2008 as Max in ‘Tangle’ for Showcase, opposite Ben Mendelsohn, Catherine McClements and Kat Stewart. The series has been critically acclaimed and Blake went on to shoot three series.
Other credits include lead guest roles in ‘Mr & Mrs Murder’, ‘Blue Heelers’, ‘Bed of Roses’ and ‘Rush’, the short films ‘The Wizard’, ‘Wiccan’ and ‘The Gidji’ and a lead in the ABC/BBC co production ‘Dead Gorgeous’. Blake has studied drama at the Screen Actors’ Studio, The Rehearsal Room, TAFTA, Victoria Youth Theatre, The National Theatre and the NIDA Open Progam.
Blake most recently appeared in the Griffin Theatre’s production of ‘Beached’ in Sydney, alongside Gia Carides. He made his stage debut opposite Alison Whyte and Wendy Hughes in the Melbourne Theatre Company’s production of ‘All About My Mother’, under the direction of Simon Phillips. He appeared alongside a stellar cast in a reading of ‘8’ the play, in both Melbourne and Sydney.
