David Woods is an acclaimed actor, director and playwright who immigrated to Australia from the UK in 2004.
Most recently, he produced and starred in Die! Die! Die! Old People Die! which received the prestigious 2019 Herald Archangel Award in Edinburgh after a successful run at Artshouse Melbourne, Battersea Arts Centre in London and Summerhall in Edinburgh.
He will be in Malthouse Theatre’s 2020 season of The Importance of Being Earnest, following his previous role in Blasted at Malthouse, for which he received glowing reviews.
On screen, David will be in the upcoming feature I Met a Girl, from Monsoon Pictures. Previous screen work includes The Wrong Girl (Network Ten), Pacific Heat (Comedy Channel), The Secret River (ABC), Laid (ABC) and the acclaimed feature film Holding the Man.
David’s theatre credits include A Flea in Her Ear and Pygmalion, for STC; Exit the King, for Belvoir; His Girl Friday, for MTC; A Social Service, for Malthouse; and The Chat, for La Boite. He co-created and appeared in the award-winning production Ganesh Versus The Third Reich for Back To Back Theatre.
Not content to simply be a part of leading theatre company productions, David is the co-artistic director of Ridiculusmus, a multi-award winning theatre company that has been producing seriously funny theatre for over 20 years. Productions include Give Me Your Love, The Eradication Of Schizophrenia in Western Lapland, Yes Yes Yes and a two-hander adaptation of The Importance Of Being Earnest.
